TOP ROCK DIRE STRAITS

Dire Straits I: Mark Knopfler (g, voc) David Knopfler (g) Pick Withers (dr) John Illsey (b)

Dire Straits II: Mark Knopfler (g, voc) John Illsey (b) Alan Clark (keys) Guy Fletcher (keys) Hal Lindes (g)

The Sultans of Swing

Despite the adverse punk climate in London of the 70's Mark Knopfler and Friends set out for big success and became synonymous for the compact disc generation. Dire Straits I was a fantastic compact rock and roll band and created far more intense music and athmosphere than Dire Straits II. The best album is Making Movies.

Dire Straits (1978) Communique (1979) Making Movies (1980) Love Over Gold (1982) Alchemy - Live (1984) Brothers in Arms (1985) Money for Nothing (1988) On Every Street (1991) On the Night - Live (1993)
