Despite being completely ignored by radio stations, people began to buy The Final Countdown like crazy in 1986. The Final Countdown is one of those Monster Hits which is performed in an excellent way, too ! This Track has everything: A good melody, a good voice, a fantastic guitar solo ... This solo is not easy to play. Maybe that Mic Michaeli played the violin or mandolin - tuned in quints - earlier, because you have to use three fingers of your left hand pulling off and hammering on empty strings quite fast.
Many people wonder how the guitar solo is played. The trick is, you have
to hammer and to pull of the empty e string with always three fingers of
your left hand, go up, go up, and then the empty b string one time ... and
this quite fast. If you are listening to halve speed it is also quite
fast. So it is a good exercise. |
